1982: Not So Hard
Still, the popular sounds persist within a listening and DJ culture divided. In comparison to the hardcore music and the developing noise and experimental post-punk of the 1982 collection, Bangles are like a watered down substitute for mainstream consumption. What would have sounded very normal within the 1980 collection, Bangles sound out of place with the records surrounding them at WNUR in 1982 and very regressive compared to other female fronted groups like Crazy Hearts. While factions surrounding experimental and hardcore music seem to have formed within WNUR, Bangles embodies the popular front rock show pushes out year by year throughout the decade.
